“Love Story” and “Miracle by Price” by Irving Cox

I have “discovered” Irving Cox, a SciFi writer from the 1950s. It is said about him “Cox is a ghost, little is known about him and his stories have all but disappeared.” Well. I found some of them. I can understand why they disappeared! His stories reflect misogyny and hostility toward women, and even a little bit of the violence. It seems Cox believed that women were their own worst enemy. His female (and male) characters are the quintessential 1950s stereotypes, and he seems to enjoy posing “What Ifs” around male/female roles and reveling in the price paid for folly. They are pretty far-fetched stories, but they’re fun, in that the beliefs are laughable. And they are oh-so 1950s! Enjoy!
